On Wednesday, November 23rd, ARIS fifth grade team 5J completed its first ever Mannequin Challenge. Teachers Diane Lyons and Carrie Sanchez thought that hopping on this current trend would be a great way to have the students work cooperatively as a team while creating something fun and memorable. The students were encouraged to come up with ideas of poses they could hold for over 2 minutes without moving, and the creativity immediately kicked into high gear. With a little trial and error, prop creation, and practice, the students were ready to freeze time for the camera. Even Principal Chris Carrey got into the act, recreating his famous "Fist-bump Friday" move with a student. Ralph Lasanno, ARIS tech coach, was instrumental in pulling the entire experience together by directing, filming, and publishing the students' work. This cohesive team captured in time will forever be "frozen" in the students' memories.
